Privacy

The short version

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no accounts, forms, comments or newsletter. There is nothing here to sign up for and nothing that identifies you.

One number is stored on the server: how many times pages on this site have been viewed in total. It is a single integer with no visitors attached to it.

Cookies

There are none. No first-party cookies, no third-party cookies, and therefore no cookie banner — a banner that asks permission for something that does not happen would be theatre.

The view counter in the footer

Loading a page sends one request that increments a total view count. The counter stores a single integer. It does not record your IP address, your user agent, which page you were on, or anything that could be linked back to you — there is no per-visitor record to link anything to.

Above a few hundred views the counter switches to sampling: it records one view in ten, then one in a hundred, and adds the sample size each time. The number in the footer is therefore an estimate, not a log.

Things that stay in your browser

The interactive components remember the settings you change, and the banner suggesting the other language remembers that you dismissed it. Both use your browser’s local storage.

None of it is ever sent anywhere. No code on this site reads that storage and transmits it. Clearing site data in your browser removes all of it.

Hosting

This site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, Cloudflare processes the network requests that reach it, and its own privacy terms govern that processing. This is not something a static site can opt out of — serving a page requires someone to receive the request.

Advertising

There are no ads on this site right now. The layout reserves places for them, but with no ad network connected those places load nothing and make no network requests.

If an ad network is added later, it will be named here along with what it stores, before it goes live.

What is not here

No accounts, no login, no newsletter, no comments, no contact form, no file uploads, no search box that reports what you typed. There is no field on this site that accepts personal information, so none is collected.

Changes

If what this site does with data changes, this page changes with it and the date above changes too. The advertising section in particular is generated from the site’s own configuration rather than written by hand, so it cannot fall out of step with what the site actually loads.
